Powder Coating Ovens and Finishing Systems

Custom Powder Coating Ovens and Finishing Systems

Blasdel  Enterprises designs, fabricates, assembles and tests powder coating ovens and finishing systems for diverse industrial applications.

Blasdel specializes in industrial electric and gas catalytic infrared ovens and high-velocity air convection ovens for finishing and powder coating and other process heating applications.

Our powder coating ovens cure powder-applied finishes at temperatures between 325°F and 450°F, transforming applied powder into a durable, uniform coating. Blasdel designs and manufactures custom industrial powder coating ovens using high-efficiency medium-wave infrared and gas catalytic infrared, to deliver faster cure times, reduced energy consumption, and compact system footprints.

Prior to the production phase, product applications are tested at our full-scale production/lab facility.

Our testing facility includes a number of industrial ovens. The ovens are equipped with infrared heating elements such as ceramic generators, ceramic panel heaters, coil-o-rods, gas catalytic and convection or high-velocity air ovens.

Whether you require a batch powder coating oven or a fully integrated conveyorized finishing line, Blasdel engineers each system specifically for your part geometry, production rate, and plant layout.

Our medium wave electric emitters are unique in that they also produce a convection quality to help cure powder and liquid paint on complex parts.

TESTING LAB

In our testing lab, we evaluate heating processes, various control features and material handling options. This allows us to design the most appropriate oven for your heating needs.  Our infrared ovens can process metal, glass, plastic, wood, and fabric substrates.  To meet your short and large production run requirements, we build batch systems as well as indexing and continuous conveyor systems.  The flexibility of your oven can be enhanced through the integration of independent control zones, special material handling systems and automated loading systems.  Additionally, we can customize our equipment with different configurations to suit your specific testing needs.  This includes high volume air oven testing equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions – Powder Coating Ovens

How long does powder coating curing take?

Infrared powder coating ovens typically cure parts in 3–6 minutes, while convection ovens generally require 20–30 minutes, depending on part mass and coating specifications.

What temperature is required to cure powder coating?

Most powder coatings cure between 325°F and 450°F, though exact temperature and dwell time depend on the coating manufacturer’s specifications.

Are infrared ovens better than convection ovens for powder coating?

Infrared ovens are often more energy-efficient and significantly faster. They heat the part directly rather than heating surrounding air, resulting in reduced cure times and smaller oven footprints.

What size powder coating oven do I need?

Oven size depends on part dimensions, throughput requirements, and cure time. Blasdel engineers each system based on your specific production parameters.

What is the energy consumption of a powder coating oven?

Energy consumption varies based on oven type and production rate. Medium-wave infrared systems typically offer 60–85% energy transfer efficiency, significantly reducing operating costs compared to convection systems.

What is the cost of a custom powder coating oven?

Cost depends on system size, heating technology, automation level, and integration requirements. Blasdel provides engineered proposals tailored to each application.

What is the difference between a finishing oven and a powder coating oven?

A powder coating oven is a type of finishing oven specifically designed to cure powder-applied coatings. Finishing ovens may also cure liquid coatings, adhesives, or perform preheat and drying processes.
